The book is off to the printer, and Carolina Academic Press has updated their page for it to say it’ll be out in June. With all the opening stuff, index, etc., it’s right at 400 pages. List price will be $65 for the hard copy and $52 for the e-book, which seems modest for a law book. It’ll be paperback–which I preferred, since that does make it less expensive.
I’m still finishing up the teacher’s manual, which will probably be around 50 pages if I had to guess. It’s an interesting process to think about what someone teaching the material might want to hear. Hopefully I’ll get useful feedback so the next edition (knock wood) will be more helpful. I will also be teaching from this book this coming academic year (both semesters), so I guess that will give me some useful information too!
Relatively late in the process, I had the chance to engage my friend Ana Marie Cox to do a proofing pass on the book (and she’ll be doing the same for the teacher’s manual). I didn’t make huge changes as a result of her suggestions, but gosh, they were really good suggestions. If you’re looking for a proofreader/editor, let me know and I will be delighted to introduce you to her. (In general, I think legal writing could be improved by having a non-lawyer look at it.)
